Studied Shakuhachi of Tozan style under Meizan Tokusa, Shakuhachi of Kinko style under Shodo Takahashi, Hodo Sato, and Katsuya Yokoyama. 1st prize of Shakuhachi section in Sankyoku Contest, Hokkaido ('76). 1st prize in Sankyoku Contest of Japan('77). Success in NHK Audition('77). 2nd prize and JML prize of Solo section, 2nd prize and jury prize of Ensemble section in Pan Music Contemporary Performance by Traditional Instruments Contest organized by Embassy of Germany in Japan('80). Performed all over the world including Japan, Germany, France, Brazil, Colombia, USA and China, etc. Published CDs: " Ugetsufu"('95 Kyoto Records), "Art of Bamboo"('97 as above), "DuO1"('99 as above), and Video "Naruhodo the Shakuhachi"(Hogaku Journal). "Masters of Zen - Ugetsufu" ('96 PLAYASOUND) was released in 23 countries of the world. Invented the Shakuhachi for beginners "Naruhachi-kun". Published the book: "Naruhodo the Shakuhachi - Introduction"(Hogaku Journal).
